On Friday 19th July The Mosslands school was proud to unveil the installation of a number of memorial benches on Ian Fraser Walk along Marine Promenade. The purpose of the benches is to bring comfort to the weary and colour to the promenade.

The project is a joint venture involving The Mosslands School and the Wirral Older People’s Parliament with support from Colas and Wirral Council. The benches have been manufactured from 100% recycled plastic, designed by students and staff from Mosslands and the project administered by Wirral Older People’s Parliament.

Year 12 students Henry Cutts, Josh Gardiner, Ben Bethel, James Murphy, and Nathan Jones have been working on a project with Mr Christiansen and Mr Taylor  at Mosslands and Wirral’s Old People’s Parliament to use recycled material to transform the concrete benches along Ian Fraser walk in New Brighton to provide a more comfortable place to sit for visitors. The students have undertaken research into recycled material that will withstand the elements, as well as cost of materials from a range of British based suppliers. The benches are sponsored and funded by individuals, but it is also hoped that further benches may be funded by local businesses and other organisations.
