Sport Development Day

Five boys attended a Merseyside Development Day at The Greenbank Sports Academy in Liverpool.

Five of The Mosslands School boys attended a Merseyside Development Day on Tuesday 11th February at The Greenbank Sports Academy in Liverpool. The event was specifically targeted at children with a disability who are electric wheelchair users. The aim of the event was for athletes to play a range of different sports and provide information on existing clubs.

The boys played all the sports on offer. They were assessed by Boccia England to find their ranking and were involved in a table cricket competition. Both these sports are common inclusive games that the boys play during their physical education lessons. All the boys participated in two new sports, athletics and unihoc. It is good to see new sports games, and equipment being adapted to suit different individuals strengths.

All the boys had a fantastic time and they all showed an interest in attending the existing afterschool clubs that occur at The Greenbank Sports Academy. All five boys were also a credit to The Mosslands School.

We, Claire Cottrell, Anna Safadi and Margaret Oldfield, would like to thank Greenbank Sports Academy for organising and running such a successful inspiring event. These sports activities are most beneficial it builds their confidence, leadership, teamwork and communication skills.

The pupils will hopefully attend and compete in the Table Cricket Tournament at Old Trafford and a power hockey event in May.
