17 Maths Stars!

17 of our Year 11 students achieve an A* in their Maths GCSE! (And these are just the early entries!) More are expected in August 2012!)

MosslandsOur new Acting-Headteacher Mrs Lee congratulates the 17 students who achieved grade A* in their recent Maths GCSE, and these are just the early entries!  Many more results, including A*’s are expected in August 2012.

“I’m delighted with these results; 8.1% of our Year 11 students achieved the top grade in comparison with the national average of 2.5%.  They are testimony to the hard work of our Year 11 students and their willingness to cooperate and be guided by our talented and dedicated staff, who on a daily basis go the extra mile for our boys.

Our heritage is as ‘Wallasey Technical Grammar School’ and as a Specialist School for Technology, we excel in the areas of Maths, Science, ICT, Design and Technology, but our specialism also incorporates Technology for Learning.  This aspect, along with staff expertise, has led to significant improvements in outcomes for our students and we look forward to our Year 11 students setting new standards for the school.

At this time of year we reflect that our Upper Sixth students will be leaving us soon.  They have made an enormous contribution to our school and the wider community.  However, we can be reassured that the overwhelming majority of them have offers from the university of their choice, including Russell Group Universities and offers to read medicine.  Over a number of years, our sixth form has had the best results of any non-selective school on the Wirral.  I have challenged the class of 2012 to maintain this tradition.

We look forward to welcoming our new Year 7 in September and hope that they will enjoy similar success.”

If you would like to give your son the opportunity to come to The Mosslands School, we still have places available for September 2012, please contact 0151 638 8131 for details.
