Governors Pen Portraits
Mrs Lorna Baygot (Governor) Pupil Support Committee
I have been a Governor at Mosslands School since 17.11.2015. My background was initially in Personnel with Marks and Spencer. However, I have spent most of my working life as a Manager with Citizens Advice. I have also worked within the business community, managing a team of 60 employees culminating in the sale of the business to HBOS. As well as being a Mosslands Governor I work with the PSU an organisation within the Civil Courts, supporting those who are unrepresented . Since joining Mosslands, amongst other activities, I have been involved in Pupil Support which includes attending the weekly Absence Panel and working within the nurture unit.
Nicola Birchall (Governor) Pupil Support Committee
I am a parent governor at Mosslands School. I became a governor in 2016 as I wanted to be involved in making sure the school provides the best opportunities for our boys. I hope to represent other parents.
I have had 2 boys complete Mosslands and 1 currently in year 9. I sit on the pupil support committee.
I work in a local primary school and have done for 15 years.
Sue Euers (Governor) Standards Committee
I have been a parent Governor at Mosslands School since 2015. I have two sons who both attended the school however, my eldest son has now gone to University but my youngest son is still at Mosslands and has just moved into the sixth form. My background is in Business Administration, but my passion has always been teaching. 14 years ago I decided to retrain as a driving instructor and I now run my own driving school. I am also a Beaver Leader at a Scout Group in Wallasey and have been for the last 30 years. I sit on the Standards Committee and feel privileged to be involved in supporting and challenging the school so that every pupil is given the opportunities to reach their full potential.
Jim Backinsell (Governor) Resources Committee
I have been a Co-Opted School Governor at Mosslands since November 2016. I bring over fifteen years of public sector HR and people management experience to the role, with a specialism in learning and career development. By day I work in HMRC as their Head of Accelerated Development, and am really keen to share my HR experience in supporting the development and ambitions of the school. In addition to my committee role, I am also Link Governor for the Humanities and will be working closely with the Heads of Geography and History on their strategic development plans.
Cheryl Danher (Governor) Director of Sixth Form
I was employed in 2003 as a Teacher of Business Studies and during my time have assumed responsibility in a variety of pastoral roles namely Assistant Head of Ruskin and now as Director of Sixth Form. I was elected as a Staff Governor in 2007 and due to my time and experiences in the school, having worked under three different Headteacher’s, I feel well equipped to fulfil this role.
I am married to a Police Officer and have two children. We are not residents of Wirral but I am also a Parent Governor at the Primary School that my children attend and I feel that my experiences in this role enrich my contribution as a staff governor at The Mosslands School. I am proud to serve the school in its mission to ensure that every pupil is given the best opportunity and support to reach their full potential, developing the skills, qualities and qualifications needed for them to have choices and the ambition to lead a successful life.
