Guide Dogs at Mosslands School
Faraday House adopted Guide Dogs as their House charity in September 2011. Each year since then we have raised more money than the previous year. This has resulted in the school being able to ‘Name’ two Guide Dog puppies. One puppy is to be named Terral after Mrs Morgan’s late husband, (Mrs Morgan being the Head of House when Guide Dogs at Mossland School began). The second puppy is to be named Veelee after our Deputy Head Mrs V Lee, who passed away earlier this year.
For 2015/16 the whole School is supporting Guide Dogs. This means that Grenfell and Ruskin Houses are both joining with Faraday House to raise funds to help change the lives of blind and partially sighted people.
However besides fundraising the fact that we actually puppy walk potential Guide Dogs at Mosslands, (currently we have our 6th puppy) supports Guide Dogs in a way no other school does. We do enjoy visits from past dogs who are now working as Guide Dogs, as well as other pups in training and other working Guide Dogs. The pupils are able to see first-hand what all the training was for, where the money raised has been spent and more importantly the life changing effect these dogs have on their owners lives.
