Specialist pathway - Sports Coaching

Unit 1 - Body systems and the effects of physical activity (E), Unit 2 - Sports coaching and activity leadership (I), Unit 3 - Sports organisation and development (E), Unit 4 - Working safely in sport, exercise, health and leisure (E), Unit 5 - Performance analysis in sport and exercise (I), Unit 8 - Organisation of sports events (I), Unit 11 - Exercise for specific groups (I), Unit 13 - Health and fitness testing for sport and exercise (I), Unit 17 - Sports injuries and rehabilitation (I), Unit 18 - Practical skills in sport and physical activities (I), Unit 19 - Sport and exercise psychology (I).


How will it be assessed?

External Assessment - These units are timetabled examinations. OCR set the dates. Achievement at unit level is graded as Near-Pass, Pass, Merit or Distinction based on reaching the required grade boundary marks for each externally assessed unit.

Internal Assessment - Your tutor will grade your work/evidence for each unit. Work/evidence can come from a number of sources such as assignments, tasks or work-based activities (through projects or real work), observation/recording of practices, responses to questions and witness statements.

  • Good attitude: In everything you do - studies, football training, workouts
  • Punctuality: Be on time to all sessions
  • Listen: If someone is talking (staff or classmate), respect them and listen
  • Be prepared: Equipment, kit, lunch

Entry requirements:

Grade 4 or above/equivalent GCSE/Cambridge Technical in PE/Sports studies

Grade 4 or above in Maths and English
