Mock Exams

Y11 continue their mock exams next week and are back in school on their normal timetable on Wednesday. Exam readiness sessions will run as per the timetable sent with the newsletter email. Y13 start their exams on Tuesday.

Digital Day Challenge

Media students will be taking part in the BIMA (British Interactive Media Association) Digital Day Challenge on Wednesday 8th November.  Students get to meet digital experts and compete in a sponsored, nationwide digital challenge for a chance to win £500 cash for their school and some fantastic prizes for themselves.

Debate Mate

On Tuesday, a select number of our students will be attending the launch event of Debate Mate, where they will experience a live debate from professionals and have a taste of the sort of thing that they themselves may be involved with in the coming weeks. It's still not too late to sign up for the club. Please see Mr Gouldson for any additional information.

Careers Fair

Two groups of students will be attending a careers fair at The Hive on Tuesday.

Library

We continue to celebrate Black British authors for Black History Month with this week's Book of the Week, Benjamin Dean's joyful novel 'Me, My Dad and the End of the Rainbow'. Archie Albright and his friends are on a determined quest to understand why his parents separated following a revelation from his father. Packed with heartfelt humour, this is a brilliant book and is available in the library now.

On Thursday 30th November, we will be holding another Readathon for our dedicated readers. Students will be completing a sponsored read in the library for the entire day and raising money so that children in hospital can gain access to the latest books, authors and storytellers.  This is always a brilliant day and spaces are filling up fast.  If you would like to sponsor our students and help raise money for such a worthy cause, please scan the QR Code below or click this link https://readathon.secure.force.com/sponsor.

Theatre Trip

Last month, our drama students had an incredible trip to the Liverpool Playhouse where they witnessed the mind-blowing performance of Frantic Assembly's "Metamorphosis".

Standing ovations all around ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Mrs. Brett said it was an honour to take these young men out for the afternoon and to experience such a mind-blowing performance.

Charity Cake Sale

Large doughnuts will be on sale on Wednesday at break and after school in aid of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. They are £1.70 each and if students could have the right money it would be appreciated. Poppies are also on sale from the school office.

Reporting an Absence

Parents must telephone the school attendance line (0151 638 8131, option 1) on the first day of absence before 8.45am and on each subsequent day of absence. It is our duty to keep your child safe, so if you do not inform us, you will receive a truancy call. You will receive 6 further calls until you respond.  The number which will display as an incoming call is a Sheffield number, 0114 303 4042.

Many thanks.
