Library

With just one week to go until our boys take part in the Readathon, there is still time to sponsor our boys as they attempt to read for a whole day to raise money to help children in hospitals access books, authors and storytellers. Please scan this QR Code or click this link https://readathon.secure.force.com/sponsor.

Mrs Brett has invited all drama pupils in years 10 to 13 to see The Woman in Black at the Liverpool Playhouse. If your son wishes to attend, please secure his place via ParentPay. If your son is in Year 10 and above and is interested in the trip, please see Mrs Brett in 607 for a letter.

6th Form STEM Engagement

On Wednesday, a group of students will be attending a young health professionals event at Manchester University NHS Trust. Workshops include orthopaedics, the use of plaster of Paris techniques, infection control methods and the vascular team demonstrating identification of veins and arteries.

Christmas Hampers

Our annual Christmas hamper initiative is here again. Students can contribute £1 or a Christmas food item for small hampers, assembled by PSA students and distributed to the local community.

This year, we're partnering with Year 12 NCS students for a Santa Dash on 12th December. Students can donate £1 or a food item. NCS funds go to their chosen charity, and PSA students will create the hampers.

Your support is appreciated, helping to make a positive impact on our community.

Charity Cake Sale

This week we raised over £75 to support Vernon Kay's amazing fundraising efforts for Children in Need.

MFL Homework Help

If students need help with their languages homework they can go to D11 at lunchtimes on Fridays for help. Please see the attached document which gives them additional help.

Austria Ski Trip 2025

Due to the popularity of the proposed ski trip, we have extended the deadline for the £100 first deposit to Friday 1st December 2023.  There are very few places remaining, so please act quickly to avoid disappointment.  Please note, the final balance is not due until December 2024 and is collected in manageable instalments over the year.  A presentation, explaining all the details surrounding the trip, will take place for parents/carers once the final list of students has been confirmed.

In an effort to help parents plan for future trips, we have attached to the newsletter email a letter regarding future international trips.

Reporting an Absence

Parents must telephone the school attendance line (0151 638 8131, option 1) on the first day of absence before 8.45am and on each subsequent day of absence. It is our duty to keep your child safe, so if you do not inform us, you will receive a truancy call. You will receive 6 further calls until you respond.  The number which will display as an incoming call is a Sheffield number, 0114 303 4042.

Medication in School

If you have any questions or concerns regarding medication in school, please contact the SEND Department. Students should not bring medication into school and any medication should be registered at reception. If your child is diagnosed as being asthmatic, following on from medical guidelines, please ensure they have an inhaler on then at all times and that we hold a spare within school. Many thanks.
