Y9 Option Choices for Study in Y10 and Y11 - A Further Reminder

Tonight, members of the school's leadership team will be available to support any parents by talking through the process and the options booklet at an optional drop-in session anytime between 5:00pm to 6:00pm. It should be noted that this session is for technical enquiries on the process and no subject teachers will be present. Students are not expected to attend this session.

Parents' evening for Y9 is on Thursday 30th January.

Parking on Mosslands Drive

May we once again remind parents of the need to park considerately when dropping off and picking up students? Please do not block our neighbours' driveways or access to the school staff and visitor car parks.

Parents and Carers of SEND Students

We sent a letter this week with a link to sign up to a session at the Careers Fair on 28th January. The link for sign-ups had an error which has since been fixed. If you have tried to sign up before it was fixed, please try again.

Cadets

This week marked an exciting milestone for our Combined Cadet Force as eight of our cadets participated in their first Air Experience Flight (AEF). Despite challenging weather conditions at the airfield, our cadets demonstrated remarkable resilience and professionalism throughout the day.

Four cadets successfully took to the skies, experiencing the thrill of flight first hand. The experience offered them unique insights into aviation principles they had previously studied in their classroom sessions, bringing their theoretical knowledge to life.

Cadet Kilty particularly distinguished himself during the visit, receiving special recognition from Sergeant Fox for his exceptional conduct and enthusiasm. His outstanding approach exemplified the core values of our CCF programme.

Even those cadets who were unable to fly due to weather restrictions maintained impeccable standards of behaviour and used the opportunity to support their fellow cadets and learn from ground operations. This perfectly demonstrated the teamwork and adaptability we seek to develop in our young leaders.

The Air Experience Flight programme forms a crucial part of our CCF's aerospace curriculum, offering cadets hands-on exposure to aviation while developing key skills in leadership, discipline, and decision-making. Further flights will be arranged for those cadets whose flights were postponed, ensuring all participants have the opportunity to experience this valuable training.

Mosslands Glows Green

We want to thank you so much for all your support so far in our fundraising for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity. We will be hosting a number of events in school to allow years 7-11 be part of our fundraising event.

The Mosslands School take to the illuminated streets of Liverpool! Our incredible team of staff and Sixth Form students will be walking 8K through the streets of Liverpool for a cause that touches so many lives– The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.

Every step we take helps support The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in their mission to provide world-class cancer treatment to patients across the North West. This cause resonates with so many of our school community, where many of us have experienced first-hand the invaluable care and support that Clatterbridge provides. Vital funds are needed to provide life changing care and support and we hope to make a difference as Team Mosslands.

As we prepare to light up Liverpool in this year's Glow Green walk, we're reaching out to you to be part of this meaningful journey. Whether it's £1 or £100, your donation will help brighten the lives of cancer patients and their families. Will you help us make a difference?

Reporting an Absence

Parents must telephone the school attendance line (0151 638 8131, option 1) on the first day of absence before 8.45am and on each subsequent day of absence. Alternatively, you can email attendance@mosslands.wirral.sch.uk. Please do not use the admin@mosslands email or the contact school option on the My Child at School app as these do not go directly to attendance, and you may still get a truancy call. It is our duty to keep your child safe, so if you do not inform us, you will receive a truancy call. You will receive 6 further calls until you respond.  The number which will display as an incoming call is a Sheffield number, 0114 303 4042.

Medication in School

If you have any questions or concerns regarding medication in school, please contact the SEND Department. Students should not bring medication into school and any medication should be registered at reception. If your child is diagnosed as being asthmatic, following on from medical guidelines, please ensure they have an inhaler on then at all times and that we hold a spare within school. Many thanks.
