GL Assessments

As part of our annual programme, Year 7 and 8 students will be sitting end-of-year tests in English and maths during the week of Monday 23rd June (Y8) and Monday 30th June (Y7).

These online assessments take approximately one hour each and require no preparation or revision - your son/ward simply needs to try their best. Students will complete them as part of their form group. Catch-up sessions will be available for anyone who misses a test. We aim to share the outcomes of these with you before the end of term.

Y11 Clearing Day

We officially said goodbye to our Y11 students this morning with an assembly in the school hall. We look forward to seeing them again for their GCSE results on Thursday 21st August from 10am.

Trips

The second deposit for Berlin and the full balance for the ski trip are now available on MCAS. If you have paid a deposit for Berlin, but are not on the second deposit, this is because you are on the waiting list.

Make it in May and Jump into June

Our students are still collecting stamps every morning and every afternoon they are in school. Students that have 100% attendance throughout May and June will each receive a prize in July.  Students are very excited about collecting their stamps and receiving their prize.

Drama Club - Cancelled

Due to Sixth Form practical exams, the club will not be running this week 20/06 or next week 27/06. Apologies to any regular attenders.

Sixth Form Exam Performances

On Monday 23rd June at 4pm and Wednesday 25th June at 6pm, the L6 drama students are performing their exam piece, Land of Our Fathers, in the drama studio.

The play contains strong language and mature themes, suitable for an audience of 15+.

If anyone would like to attend, please email Mrs Brett.

Careers

Y10 will be making a start on their CVs on Monday and Tuesday next week, while Y9 are off timetable all day on Thursday for a Willmott Dixon World of Work Day.

STEM Trip

Yesterday, a small group of students got to enjoy the UK’s premier STEM event, The Big Bang, at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. The Big Bang Programme exists to bring science and engineering to life with hands-on activities and demonstrations. It showcases young inventors and experimenters, future game-changers and lifesavers, all of whom developed and shone in The Big Bang Competition.

Ice cream sales are ongoing through to the end of term, stocks permitting. Monday to Thursday from 1pm in the crush hall.

£1 for ice cream wafers and £1.20 for cones.

So far we have raised £205.90 for Men Too, a men's mental health charity.

The next donation will be to Claire House in memory of former pupil Sam Lloyd, who sadly passed away recently a few days before his 30th birthday.

Art Department

You can follow us on Instagram @art_mosslands to see some fabulous examples of the work produced by our students.

Reporting an Absence

Parents must telephone the school attendance line (0151 638 8131, option 1) on the first day of absence before 8.45am and on each subsequent day of absence. Alternatively, you can email attendance@mosslands.wirral.sch.uk. Please do not use the admin@mosslands email or the contact school option on the My Child at School app as these do not go directly to attendance, and you may still get a truancy call. It is our duty to keep your child safe, so if you do not inform us, you will receive a truancy call. You will receive 6 further calls until you respond.  The number which will display as an incoming call is a Sheffield number, 0114 303 4042.

Please be advised that if a student is absent from school for three consecutive days, a member of staff will carry out a home visit to check that everything is okay even if a phone call has already been received from a parent or carer.

This is part of our commitment to safeguarding and ensuring the wellbeing of all our students. We appreciate your understanding and support in this matter.

Medication in School

If you have any questions or concerns regarding medication in school, please contact the SEND Department. Students should not bring medication into school and any medication should be registered at reception. If your child is diagnosed as being asthmatic, following on from medical guidelines, please ensure they have an inhaler on then at all times and that we hold a spare within school. Many thanks.
