1874: Gladstone or Disraeli?

Dr Mike Benbough-Jackson of Liverpool JMU delivered a very engaging session to Year 12 AS level History students.

John Moores UniversityOn Wednesday 24th February we were very grateful to Dr Mike Benbough-Jackson from Liverpool John Moores University who visited Mosslands School and delivered a very engaging session to Year 12 AS level History students. The session helped pupils appreciate the value of the contemporary setting when assessing the reasons for the defeat of the liberals in 1874. Through both a lecture and the exploration of source material students were able to recognise the importance of context in understanding newspapers and journals as historic sources and were able to appreciate how political arguments are constructed.
