Momentary Arts Project……… the idea

Imagine if you will a brand new 5,000 square foot empty unit at Marine Point, surrounded by an ever increasing number of new restaurants and cafes, a brand new cinema, a casino and a stones throw away from a recently upgraded regional theatre where the Mersey meets the Irish Sea and the golden sands meet the biggest tides in the country.

Imagine….how would you use it?

Local resident Carl Lecky had the idea to use the space for art, art of the locality and art by locals. A mad idea some might say, but an idea all the same and an idea that was greeted positively both by the developers of Marine Point and the local community.

So the spark of an idea became the Marine Point Momentary Arts Project.

To get things running in such a short space of time it was decided to put together a 3D art installation, based on the sea, but with a Christmas theme, which will be displayed in the window of the empty unit (next to the Travel Lodge) from Friday 14th December.

The boys with the fishA number of Mosslands pupils who use the Green Room at lunchtime were invited to make fish from recycled material such as empty milk cartons, egg boxes, cardboard boxes, all sorts of empty food containers and other used materials.

Every lunch time for two weeks fish has been on the minds of our Year 7 and 8 pupils who use the Green Room and as a result they have produced some fantastic designs which will be on show from Friday 14th December at 5.00pm.

A BIG thank you to all the pupils who took part and the support staff who gave their time to help.
