Paralympian Inspires

Paralympian, Roy Turnham, gives an inspirational speech as guest speaker at the annual awards evening

The Wirral Globe reports on paralympian, Roy Turnham's visit to the school as guest speaker at the annual senior awards evening.

AN inspirational Paralympian dropped in to a Wirral school to honour its high-flying former students.

Roy Turnham, a paralympic footballer from Liverpool, visited The Mosslands School in Wallasey as it held its annual senior awards evening.

The event was a chance for the school to welcome back more than 100 former pupils, as well as current sixth formers, to present them with prizes for their achievements.

Roy, who gave a speech to the students about his experiences, played as part of Team GB's blind football squad at last year's London Paralympics.

Adrian Whiteley, headteacher at The Mosslands School, said: "It was fantastic to see the past Year 11 students and present Sixth Formers, welcoming them back to recognise their hard work and commitment.

"Roy Turnham's speech was very inspirational, and I hope it gave the boys motivation and desire to work hard at their chosen careers and to reach their goals."
