Ahead of the Road to Rio event to be held at Mosslands, Great Britain Sled hockey athlete, Steven Midghall came in to tell his story to the students

Steven MidgehallThe Mosslands School are extremely lucky to be hosting a Paralypmic event at the school. The “Road Rio” event has been established through partnerships with our Embrace charity, Clairemount school and the Rotary club.

The event will involve over 40 schools coming to Mosslands to compete in a huge variety of inclusive sports. These will include wheelchair basketball, boccia, fencing and volleyball.

Great Britain Sled hockey athlete, Steven Midghall came in to tell his story to the students. He was severely injured in a car crash 10 years ago. He was in a coma and not expected to recover. Though hard work he regained body control and has since been picked to travel around the world to compete. He is hoping to be in the Paralympic squad for Rio 2016. His story was both moving and inspiring for the students.

The event takes place on the 2nd and 7th of July at Mosslands and it promises to be a motivating event for both able bodied and disabled competitors.
