Students receive a basket of salad and vegetables from Dale Farm

Mosslands students accepting a food basket from Dale FarmMosslands Lead Teacher of Food Technology Peter Bradshaw and three of his students receive a basket of salad and veg from Royden Project Instructor Barry Hughes and two of his students. The exchange was made as part of a Royden Park and Dale Farm’s initiative to raise their profile, as they move from council support to being an independent trust.

The produce on display was grown by students who are part of the parks social employment project offering training in horticulture and wood craft skills, in a friendly supportive environment.

Peter Bradshaw said “This basket is the first of a series that will be integrated into the classroom as part of Mosslands healthy awareness cookery classes. I want the students to understand the importance of fresh produce grown locally. With this new link with Royden Park and Dale Farm I plan to take a group of students down to the farm where they will see first hand just what goes into the production of fresh vegetables.”
