The autumn term is a busy time for our Year 13 students, with many in the process of completing university application forms. Preparation starts early in the summer term of Year 12 with visits to the UCAS Higher Education Fair at the University of Liverpool. This allows our students to attend seminars and speak to university representatives to enable them to make informed choices. This is followed up in school with sessions on the broad range of post 18 options.

To help students complete the important personal statement section of their application forms; Head of Sixth Form, Form Tutors and the schools’ Career Connect Careers Adviser provide guidance and support throughout the autumn term. This is also supplemented by visits from colleagues from local universities including LJMU to offer further one to one advice to support students in writing a good statement.

On Wednesday 8th October we were pleased to welcome Sharon Roden from LJMU who provided advice to a number of students on their draft statements emphasising key points such as the information provided was the students opportunity to explain their choice of course, their motivation and commitment.
