Year 7 and 8 visit to The Liverpool Playhouse.

On Tuesday 31st March 2015 a group of Year 7 and 8 students visited the Liverpool Playhouse to see ‘The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas’.

‘The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas’ is an international bestseller written by John Boyne and it is in the Year 8 English curriculum here at Mosslands.

If you start to read this book, you will go on a journey with a nine year old boy called Bruno.  And sooner or later you will arrive with Bruno at a fence.  We hope that you never have to cross such a fence.

The novel explores themes of war and friendship across political and social divides.  It tells a difficult and upsetting story via an innocent child protagonist which makes for a sensitive reading experience.

Boyne’s powerful novel has been adapted for stage by Angus Jackson and will be touring UK theatres produced and performed by The Children’s Touring Partnership.  You too can see the production at the Liverpool Playhouse from Monday 30 March to Saturday 4th April.
