Made in Runcorn !
What’s made in Runcorn and helps create the best, the most expensive and the Worlds fastest cars? CARBON FIBRE. Many have heard it name but few have seen how it’s put together. And so Mosslands Year 7, STEM scholars get a rare opportunity to visit Sigmatex, the World leading independent converter of carbon fibre based in Runcorn!
With highly trained staff, multi-million pound looms and the latest weave technology Mosslands students saw the raw materials for planes, boats and automobiles being produced to the highest quality standards. Other fun stuff is also made using carbon fibre including tennis rackets, ski’s, snow boards and bikes and of course this makes them top of the range being “light” weight and with enormous strength and its all down to Runcorn!
Rhys said “it was amazing to learn that so many things are made from carbon fibre”
Regan “thanks for the inspiring visit, I didn’t realise that carbon fibre was made out of woven thread”
Adel “it was one of the best STEM trips I’ve ever been on”
Why not think about becoming an engineer!
