Getting a taste for STEM

Getting a taste for STEM

Earlier this term a group of our Year 9 pupils participated in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) event at the University of Liverpool, where they got involved in some hands-on STEM experiences.

They got to handle and learn about adaptation of marine animals, investigated the chemistry and synthesised hand creams, (which the boys produced and took home), then learnt about the Maths behind starting a business, inspiring some future businessmen and entrepreneur in the process!

They were also lucky enough to learn how to programme robots using an advanced form of “scratch” and got a glimpse into the future of artificial intelligence.  One of our students said ‘I enjoyed this session as it was different to what I’ve seen before’. The day was fun and inspirational for all our students with one stating ’I actually loved it, it was amazing!’ and now he has set himself the goals of one day studying at the University. We are so pleased to have such close links with the University and look forward to taking more of our students on these special days out.
