Mobile Phone Use in School

Mobile Phone Use in School

In response to the increase in cyber bullying and social media abuse that has been widely reported in the national press in recent years, we have altered our rules about mobile phones in school to bring us in line with recommendations.

Whilst we understand that many young people feel more comfortable having a phone with them whilst travelling to and from school, we are no longer permitting the use of phones for pupils 11-16 at any time during school hours.

Phones will need to be switched off and put away throughout the day, this now includes lunch and break times.

Pupils will be given a warning if they are seen using their phones, those ignoring the warning may have their phone confiscated for the rest of the day.  We will not hold any phones overnight, pupils will always be able to retrieve their phone before leaving school.
