Great Mosslands Menu

Students having been cooking up a storm in the Great Mosslands Menu cooking challenge!

 Enjoying cookingThis week has seen the highly successful ‘Great Mosslands Menu’ cooking competition take place. All the houses – Faraday, Ruskin, and Grenfell, were represented across Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 by teams of two pupils. 

Each of the teams were chosen on the merits of the dishes that they researched. The winning team for each year were awarded the highly coveted trophies by the head of the panel of judges, Mr G Jones, Director of Learning for Technology. The theme for this year’s dishes was Asian Cuisine. The judging panel was treated to a wide variety of dishes and ingredients that ranged from honey duck breast to fish in a spicy tomato sauce, and from peanut dishes to sticky Chinese spare ribs. 

Chris Ffoulkes, one of the Year 10 contestants said: “It was a great atmosphere and we had a good laugh; it was a really fun event!” 

All the pupils took great pride in their cooking and enjoyed the complements of the many staff who came and supported their forms. 

The Head of the Judges said: “This year’s competition has been the highest standard so far and it was an extremely difficult competition to judge”.
