We've got an App for that!

Year 8 students design an app as part of the BT App Challenge for the Olympic Games next year. The app was to incorporate the theme of "Everyone's Games"

The app is presented to the panel of judges

On Monday 3rd October representatives from MerseySTEM and a STEM ambassador from British Gas came to judge groups competing in the BT app challenge that a number of students from year 8 had participated in. They presented their ideas for a new app suitable for the Olympic Games next year. The app was to incorporate the theme of ‘Everyone’s games’ and they had to carefully select a design after considering different disabilities and the needs of people with disabilities who would want to use the app.

The students worked hard on these designs and were able to showcase them to the judges in four groups. Amongst these groups were the ‘exploding chemists’ and ‘the lab rats’. These groups now have a tense wait to hear the final decision but produced some outstanding work in their own time and should be very proud of themselves. If one of the groups is successful we will be attending the final in London on October 20th.  Group shot!
