New Brighton Primary “Young Scientists” visit our school

Young scientists at Mosslands
 working in a real laboratory

It was the third and final visit to Mosslands and the New Brighton Primary “Young Scientists” were eager for some science excitement!  The laboratory session started off with a quick “walk about” activity to break the ice and to get everybody relaxed and comfortable in a real science laboratory.   Next followed the highlight of the day, a gory heart dissection.  Most of the fearless pupils stood up to the bloody challenge, with only a few pale faces around the room (including some adults). The bravest pupils even volunteered to hold the heart in their hand.   The session concluded with a master class on pulse taking and the effect of exercise on the heart.   The New Brighton pupils were impeccably behaved, knowledgeable and were adamant that they wanted to come to Mosslands School (even the girls!). Well done to all involved for such an excellent and successful day.
