Ex Tranmere and Burnley footballer Graham Branch (below) visited school today to speak to our team of Premier league reading stars.

The Ex professional was in to answer questions about his career and discuss how reading has influenced his life and talk about some of his favourite books.

The country wide initiative is a product of collaboration between the National Literacy trust and the Premier League. It’s aim is to engage young people with literacy through their love of football.

Several Premier league footballers have recommended books and conveyed a love of reading which is rubbing off on our year 7 boys. They are following a ten week programme where reading for fun is being promoted and inspiring the boys to seek out more literature. This will have a knock on effect to create success in all other areas of their school and social lives. The results of the course are fantastic and more can be seen at: http://www.literacytrust.org.uk/premier_league_reading_stars
