Opening Doors of Opportunity

North West regional winners for Powering Transformation!

The Transformation Trust, an established education body dedicated to “opening the doors of opportunity” in partnership with DELL is pleased to announce that Mosslands School has been crowned the North West regional winners for Powering Transformation! In our region, out of 32 schools and 1,650 students, Mosslands winning team’s idea, has been chosen to be taken forward to the national competition.  They will now go up against the other regional winners from across the country to be crowned this year’s Powering Transformation national winners.

The competition comprised of a range of activities about technology. During the morning the boys were split into teams to play competitive games. One of these games involved building a solar panel race car! This was followed by a thoroughly enjoyable campus tour of Liverpool John Moores University. On the tour the boys got to experience a media production studio and control room and were taught the fundamentals of film production. The busy morning was then followed by an afternoon of creativity. The teams were set a task of creating, designing and presenting a 'new green technology'. This was a fantastic experience for our students and the staff at LJMU were majorly impressed with the creativity and confidence displayed by the boys. There was even technology related raps and songs which they used to highlight social concerns!

The whole day was a total success and very enjoyable for both staff and pupils. The boys got to access a whole range of new technology and university experiences and everybody went home with a big smile on their face! MNL/TNT
