PE Kit update – October half term

Dear Parent/ Guardian,

I am writing to you to update you on the instructions concerning PE kit, and current Covid related regulations. For the first half term we have allowed students to wear PE kit for the full day in order to avoid using changing rooms.

After half term this will change. Due to the cold weather students must come to school in full school uniform. They will change into their PE kit for PE lessons in the sports hall. This means they will not be in confined spaces and will be socially distanced to prevent any spread of infection.

Kit is available to buy on the EV2 website (www.ev2sportswear.com/clubs/). Full details on how to order are on the parents section of the website. Please order carefully and check kit sizes are correct. There is a display at the front of the school to see the sizes physically. There is also a size guide online when you order.

We understand the frustrations surrounding PE kit this year, this would appear to centre around the effects of the Covid pandemic and the suppliers factory staff being furloughed for a large part of the year. We met with them this week and they assure us that they will work through the orders as soon as possible and PE kit will be delivered to the school as soon as we can. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience.

If you have not received kit or do not want to order the kit you can wear a plain white T-shirt and black shorts with boots / trainers. Please bear in mind that a significant proportion of the PE curriculum will take place outside on the hard play area, the astro-turf and the playing fields this year.  Pupils are encouraged to wear a warm under-layer if needed in cold weather. There is a video from Mr Reed on the news section of the school website to explain this and images of the acceptable PE kit.

Can we take this opportunity to remind you that even if students have minor injuries they can still take part in PE lessons as a coach, technician or referee so should still bring in their kit. They will not be made to do any physical activity that may aggravate the injury.

Thank you for your understanding and patience in these difficult times.

Mr Reed

Head of PE
