A Message from Mr Whiteley
A warm welcome back to all of our pupils to what has been a very cold start to the new term.
For those Y11 and sixth form students who are sitting final exams over this January period, I wish them the very best of luck. The exams already completed this week, have been conducted in an exemplary manner.
A reminder that parents' evening for Y11 is tonight from 4 to 6.45pm.
As you will undoubtedly have seen, building work has finally commenced for the new school. Over the next few weeks, this preliminary work will see the establishment of a new car park adjacent to what is currently the KS3 playground and the erection of a site fence to secure the building area and keep students safe. The current mesh fencing will be removed as soon as the more substantial fence is finished.
At the same time, the cycle path on Wallacre will be moved to the far side of the field temporarily before being finally reinstated at the new school boundary, as part of the local authority’s renovation of the playing fields that are taking place in tandem with the school building programme. Please take care if you use this cycle path, especially when joining the road. Some drivers may not be aware of the change in its location.
While these projects are under construction, the edge of the Wallacre field alongside Mosslands Drive will be fenced to protect the site. Although it doesn’t touch the road, the fence will make the road feel narrower (especially with the current temporary mesh fencing) and I implore all the community to take extra care when driving or cycling on Mosslands Drive.
Similarly, although site traffic has been instructed to avoid the start and end of the school day, I ask all parents who drive, to try and avoid Mosslands Drive by dropping pupils in Wallasey Village rather than the residential streets by the school, and for those for whom that is not possible, please respect our neighbours and do not obstruct either their drives or their cars.
With the building phase in progress, please do not obstruct school gates or the zig-zag parking restriction markings outside school; they will be in constant use.
