A reminder that this event takes place a week tonight. Please ensure you have made the relevant appointments.

Tetanus, Diphtheria & Polio (Td/IPV) and Meningitis ACWY Vaccinations for Year 9 Pupils

On Wednesday 11th February,  the immunisation team will be in school to vaccinate pupils in Y9 for their Tetanus, Diphtheria & Polio (Td/IPV) – also known as the 3-in-1 teenage booster and Meningitis ACWY.  Any outstanding Y10 and 11 pupils will also be vaccinated.

A letter has been sent out to all Y9 parents this week asking for parents to submit their consent and providing other key information about the vaccine.

Pupils who are being vaccinated on the day should wear a short-sleeved shirt.

Careers

Our careers fair will take place on Tuesday 27th January in school. Years 9, 11 and 6th form will be able to meet a variety of employers, universities and vocational colleges. There is also a session for parents of SEND pupils Y9 and above and those parents should have received a separate letter about that. If you are in this group and have not received a letter, please contact us and we will send it on.

Y10 Access All Areas group will be visiting Liverpool John Moores University on 30th January and those involved have received a letter with the details. This programme started in Y9.

Y10 work experience – there are some students who have not met the extended deadline for a placement, and we are continuing to work with them to find somewhere for them to do work experience 9th- 20th March. If parents have any queries, they should contact Mrs Rycroft as a matter of urgency.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Bronze Award

The payment window to register for DofE has been extended to Monday 23rd February. The first after-school meeting for Y10 will take place in D13 on Wednesday 21st January 3.20 - 4.15pm.

Y9 will have their first session the following week.

Berlin Trip

The payment deadline for the Berlin trip is now Friday 17th April. Copies of passports should be emailed to admin@mosslands.wirral.sch.uk as soon as possible. Please mark your email FAO Mr White.

Debate Mate

Debate Mate is back in action! Every Wednesday 3:30-4:30 for years 7-10. Our first trip of the year is heading out later this month with more to come. It's not too late to get involved, see Mr Gouldson for more details.

Charity Muffin Sale

There will be a muffin sale at break on Tuesday in aid of Wirral Ark. Muffins are £1.40 each, and it would be really helpful if boys could have the correct money.

Reporting an Absence

Parents must telephone the school attendance line (0151 638 8131, option 1) on the first day of absence before 8.45am and on each subsequent day of absence. Alternatively, you can email attendance@mosslands.wirral.sch.uk. Please do not use the admin@mosslands email or the contact school option on the My Child at School app as these do not go directly to attendance, and you may still get a truancy call. It is our duty to keep your child safe, so if you do not inform us, you will receive a truancy call. You will receive 6 further calls until you respond.  The number which will display as an incoming call is a Sheffield number, 0114 303 4042.

If a student arrives at school after 9:15 AM, when the registers officially close, their late arrival is recorded as a U code. This code means the child is present on site, but too late to receive a present mark — and as such, it is recorded as an unauthorised absence.

Please be aware that repeated U codes can lead to further action, as they affect your child’s overall attendance percentage and may be subject to monitoring.

We understand that occasional lateness can happen for a variety of reasons. If you are experiencing difficulties that are impacting punctuality, please don’t hesitate to contact us so we can work together to support you.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support in ensuring your child attends school on time every day.

Please be advised that if a student is absent from school for two unauthorised consecutive days then a member of the pastoral team will contact home via telephone and after three unauthorised consecutive days, a member of staff will carry out a home visit to check that everything is okay, even if a phone call has already been received from a parent or carer.

This is part of our commitment to safeguarding and ensuring the wellbeing of all our students. We appreciate your understanding and support in this matter.

Medication in School

If you have any questions or concerns regarding medication in school, please contact the SEND Department. Students should not bring medication into school and any medication should be registered at reception. If your child is diagnosed as being asthmatic, following on from medical guidelines, please ensure they have an inhaler on them at all times and that we hold a spare within school. Many thanks.
