A Message from Mr Whiteley

As the school year draws to a close, I would like to thank you for your continuing support and would ask that as we approach the end of term, we respect our neighbours and care for our community over the summer.  You may have seen the work we have been doing with the local police as part of their Community Programme. I would like to congratulate our Year 10 pupils who took part in the police workshops last Friday for their excellent response to some hard hitting presentations. All the presenters were highly complementary about the students, saying they were the best they had ever worked with; a great tribute.

Please note that a number of policies will have changed as we start the new school year, so be aware that a new signature pack will be coming home on those first days.  We appreciate your support in ensuring that the boys return in full uniform, prepared to learn and with a refreshed attitude to engage fully in the curriculum.

You will by now all know that the school is going to be rebuilt as part of a major investment by the Department for Education. While it may be months before the building programme gets underway, we are hoping to have a new school ready in just 2 years.  This is a very exciting time for the school, and I am hoping to involve the students and our wider community as much as possible in its design.

For the staff leaving us, I would like to thank them for their service to the school and most importantly for the support they have given to our students over the years. I would like you to join me in wishing them the very best for the future.

I would like to wish you all a safe and restful summer, and look forward to an excellent year starting in September.

Bike Marking Events

As part of our commitment to keeping our students safe, we have organised, with Merseyside Police, two dates for bike marking events. We would like to specifically target new students to the school.

With this in mind, we have two dates:

Tuesday 1st August 1pm. All new Y7 students, please come on your bike, whether attending Summer School or not.

Friday 15th September 1pm. This will be open to all students, but we would like as many new Y7 to bring bikes in.

The process involves attaching a sticker to the bike and taking photos of it, for the purpose of returning it to its rightful owner in the unfortunate case of theft. This is not a way, as some students believe, of the police being able to track individuals!

Please use the link to register for a date.

Any further questions, please contact the school office.

Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award

Last week, a group of 6th Form students took part in an expedition along Hadrian's Wall in weather that could be best described as mixed with students enduring heavy rain and enjoying glorious sunshine often within minutes of each other! Despite the weather, they showed great fortitude and good humour all week.

Rome Trip

The boys had a fantastic time in Rome at the start of the month. They battled through the heat and large amounts of walking, but were rewarded with fantastic Italian cuisine. They were extremely well-behaved throughout with a special thanks from the hotel at the end of the trip. We are already looking forward to next year's trip to Normandy.

Charity Sales

We have raised £566.30 for charity this half-term through ice cream, doughnut & muffin sales.

The majority will go to Alder Hey Children's Hospital with some going to the LGBT community.  A donation has also been made to Tom Chadwick (10F2), who took part in the Wirral Coastal Walk this year to raise money for his cadets group.

What's on in Wirral this Summer!

As the 6-week summer holidays approach our parents and carers of SEND children are letting us know that they’d benefit from some key information to tide them over the summer break. We’ve received this bumper 43-page newsletter with up-to-date information on how to contact a range of health services and a steer as to what’s on in Wirral this summer. We hope this will provide much needed information, support and advice over the coming weeks.

Many thanks

Mrs Treanor

Medication in School

If you have any questions or concerns regarding medication in school, please contact the SEND Department. Students should not bring medication into school and any medication should be registered at reception. If your child is diagnosed as being asthmatic, following on from medical guidelines, please ensure they have an inhaler on then at all times and that we hold a spare within school. Many thanks.
