End of Term

School closes for the Christmas holidays on Friday 22nd December after period 4 at 12.40pm. Grab bags will be available for any boys in receipt of free school meals who need to take lunch with them. On the last day of term, students are allowed to wear a Christmas jumper in addition to their school uniform.

Library

This week's Book of the Week honours Human Rights Day on Sunday 10th December and is Stitched Up by Steve Cole. When Hanh is offered a job as a shop assistant in Hanoi, she hopes to earn money to help her family. But it’s a trick. She is forced into child labour in an illegal clothing factory.  For the child workers, life in the sweatshop is a daily nightmare of long hours, poor food and regular violence. Trapped hundreds of miles from home, Hanh and her friends are desperate to escape. But freedom rests on them taking a dangerous chance – and a sacrifice that will change them forever. A fantastic book written in a dyslexia-friendly format and available in the library now!

Trips

Places for the ski trip in 2025 were confirmed this week. After consultation with the travel company, we were able to offer a place to every student who paid a deposit, meaning that in March 2025 over seventy boys will be travelling to Austria.

The final group of Y8 students (8X3) will visit the Liverpool International Slavery Museum tomorrow.

In January, a group of 6th Form art students will be visiting museums and art galleries in London.

Next term, MFL will be taking groups of Y9 boys to French and Spanish restaurants as a reward for their hard work and commitment to languages. Letters will be emailed home to the lucky students next week.

Y7 had two amazing trips to Liverpool this week. A full report and photos will be in the newsletter next week.

6th Form Open Evening & Y11 Futures Day

We were delighted to welcome students and their families to this event last week. The evening was very well attended with lots of students able to discuss their post 16 options with staff.

As a follow-up, all Y11 were off timetable today, sampling life as a sixth-former with lessons in all the subjects we offer post 16. Some students visited The Climbing Hangar in Liverpool and The Engineering College.

Drama Trip

On Wednesday, Mrs Brett and her Y10 drama students visited LIPA to watch a fabulous degree performance of She Kills Monsters and to have a tour of the facilities. It was a truly inspiring visit and the boys were very lucky to get to see behind the scenes at this world-famous institution.

Art Department

Miss Connor would like to invite former students to collect their incredible old artwork (we have kept it all!) in preparation for the new building.

Please phone the school or message @art_mosslands on Instagram to arrange collection and allow us time to find your work.
Miss Robbins' work from 2021/2022 is also available.

You can follow us on Instagram @art_mosslands to see some fabulous examples of the work produced by our students.

Medication in School

If you have any questions or concerns regarding medication in school, please contact the SEND Department. Students should not bring medication into school and any medication should be registered at reception. If your child is diagnosed as being asthmatic, following on from medical guidelines, please ensure they have an inhaler on then at all times and that we hold a spare within school. Many thanks.
