Year 9 Parents' Evening

Don't forget this event is running tonight from 4 to 6.45pm. It is a chance for you to discuss your son's progress prior to the completion of his options form.

The deadline for forms is Friday 9th February.

Message from Merseyside Police

We have been made aware by several parents and students that a 'Wirral Rumours/ Whispers' Snapchat group has been made. This seems to be a Wirral wide issue and not confined to just our school.

Students are added to this group without their consent and all posts are anonymous.  Highly malicious rumours are being spread naming children in Wirral schools. Additionally, exact addresses are provided under 'egg this house',  again anonymously, but the addresses are real. This is extremely concerning and illegal.

We urge you to speak to your sons and wards and to check their online activity regularly. We will follow this up in school with assemblies on online safety and the new legislation in the 2023 Online Safety Act.

Please do report any suspicious activity to the police/CEOPS.

Round 2 of the Year 7 Spelling Bee took place last Friday with just over 70 students taking part! Well done to all of those that joined in with this event and to the students who got 6 or more correct spellings and will be going through to the quarter finals which take place tomorrow. A special shout out to the following students who got 9/10 and gained 90 points for their form group!

Back in November, our Readathon boys raised over £500 for the Read for Good charity that places books and storytellers in hospitals.  This week Mr Whiteley presented these boys with certificates and thanked them for a job well done.  Watch this space for our new Readathon!

Reporting an Absence

Parents must telephone the school attendance line (0151 638 8131, option 1) on the first day of absence before 8.45am and on each subsequent day of absence. It is our duty to keep your child safe, so if you do not inform us, you will receive a truancy call. You will receive 6 further calls until you respond.  The number which will display as an incoming call is a Sheffield number, 0114 303 4042.

Medication in School

If you have any questions or concerns regarding medication in school, please contact the SEND Department. Students should not bring medication into school and any medication should be registered at reception. If your child is diagnosed as being asthmatic, following on from medical guidelines, please ensure they have an inhaler on then at all times and that we hold a spare within school. Many thanks.
