Monkey

Online video calling with random strangers... it’s hardly a new internet phenomenon – but the recent shutdown of Omegle has resulted in the creation of several similar platforms bidding to fill the void! One of these is Monkey – a service that randomly connects its users for video calls, using their mobile numbers and Snapchat account details.

Monkey has surged in popularity since Omegle’s shutdown in November 2023. Regrettably, it also seems that Monkey suffers from many of the same pitfalls as its notorious predecessor – the attached #WakeUpWednesday guide highlights these possible risks to young people in more detail. Please take a read.

Well done to all of those that joined in with this event and to the students who got 8 or more correct spellings and will be going through to the semi-finals which take place tomorrow. A special shout out to the following students who got 10/10 and gained 100 points for their form group!

This week's Book of the Week is honouring LGBT+ History Month with Darren Charlton's zombie romance Wranglestone. In a post-apocalyptic America, a community survives in a national park, surrounded by water that keeps the Dead at bay. But when winter comes, there's nothing to stop them from crossing the ice. As love blossoms between homebody Peter and rancher Cooper, a dark discovery reveals the community's dark secret past and forces them to question everything they have ever known.
