World Book Day is on Thursday 7th March. On this day, a selection of our Y7 and 8 boys will be taking part in a live Premier League event with the National Literacy Trust. Letters will be sent home with these boys this week.
We also have a reading trail throughout the day; boys are invited to find clues on classroom doors of teachers' favourite book when they were a child. Forms can be picked up from the library and prizes will be awarded for correctly completed forms.
Before then, students in Y7 and 8 will receive their £1 World Book Day token to spend in store on a £1 World Book Day book or get £1 off a full-price book. Students in Y9-13 can pop to Mrs Barton in the library or ask an English teacher for their token.
Our Book of the Week is one of the World Book Day books that students can get for free with their £1 World Book Day token. Can You Get Jellyfish In Space by Dr Sheila Kanani is a brilliant book for fans of science, discovering a weird and wonderful cast of animals who have travelled into space.
The finals of the Y7 Spelling Bee took place before half-term and our nine finalists all performed incredibly well during this spoken round. Huge congratulations to our winners:
Tom Steele 7F1
Marshall Hughes 7R1
Michal Karpenko 7G3
Don't forget there are clubs that run in the library.
Chess Club - Tuesdays 3.20 to 4.10pm.
Puzzle Club - Wednesday lunchtime.
