A Message from Mr Whiteley
I would like to thank you once again for all your support as we come to the end of another term. I would like to pass on my congratulations particularly to the Sixth Form PSA boys, who have reached the final of The Goldsmiths' Community Engagement Awards, a national programme for schools committed to improving their community. This year, over 170 schools applied. Our students have passed through all the preliminary rounds successfully and will be going to London in June to compete in a final against just 7 other schools. This is the first time our school has reached the finals of this competition. Well done boys.
I would like to thank the Year 11s for preparing for their GCSEs and wish them every success in their exams. I would encourage them to spend time preparing over the holidays, so they are fully equipped to do the best that they can.
I would also like to thank the students in years 11 to 13, who gave their time to organise and run a really successful evening of entertainment and food for the local residents of care homes in Wallasey in association with the Rotary Club. The evening saw 88 elderly residents entertained by old boys of the school performing music from the 60s and 70s, whilst being waited on by our students.
Next term, we will be working with our student council getting their input, as the new build gathers momentum, with their thoughts on catering provision for the school.
Many thanks to all the staff and parents who have been involved in our trips and visits this year, especially those boys who had such a good time in Barcelona.
As you will know, we have been subsidising our school meals against ever-increasing inflationary pressures. Although we will continue to do our best, the school meal price will rise to £2.75 from the start of next term (17 April), this will not affect children who are on free school meals.
We have received several complaints regarding the amount of litter being dropped by students on their way to and from school. As always, I would encourage your children to be respectful to the community and dispose of rubbish in the correct manner by putting it in a bin.
Lastly, I wish you all a safe and restful Easter break and look forward to seeing everyone back in school on Monday 17th April.
