Upcoming Events

Y11 are off timetable tomorrow. They are to attend at their appointed time to discuss their mock exam results and future plans.

On Thursday, students may wear a Christmas jumper alongside their normal uniform and pay £2 to charity. Christmas lunch will be served in the canteen on Thursday.

It's a busy week for trips to Liverpool. On Wednesday, drama students are visiting LIPA, history and maths students are going to Liverpool University with another group of drama students going to LIPA on Thursday. On Friday, Y10 philosophy and RS students are visiting both Liverpool cathedrals.

Drama Club is cancelled this week. The last one of the year will be on Friday 13th December.

Parent Governor

Following our request for nominations for parent governor for the school, we had three nominations and a poll was sent around to all parents.  The candidate with the most votes was Nina Grant. Congratulations Nina!

We would like to thank the other two candidates for putting themselves forward, and let them know that their interest in supporting the school as a governor was greatly appreciated.

Iceland Trip

The second deposit for the Iceland trip is due tomorrow.

Careers

It has been a busy couple of weeks.

On 18th and 19th November, Y7s had a session with Mrs Rycroft to get them signed up to our various online careers platforms, so we hope they are now starting to complete tasks and explore the world of work.

There will be a mop up session for those who missed it next term.

On Tuesday and Wednesday of last week, groups from years 11 to 13 attended the National Apprenticeship Show at the ACC Liverpool.

We have also had trips and visits to LJMU and Edge Hill for targeted groups who met selection criteria.

This week, all of our Y11 were offered a mock interview with some of our employer and training provider partners.

Library

In honour of Human Rights Day on Tuesday 10th December, our Book of the Week is Here I Stand: Stories that speak for Freedom. Food Allergy Awareness

Please could all parents/carers ensure we have up-to-date allergy and dietary information for their son. In all school years, students may be involved in tasting and cooking a variety of different foods. We will accommodate for allergies and dietary needs, but only if we are made aware beforehand.

Please contact the school office with updated information on 0151 638 8131 or via email admin@mosslands.wirral.sch.uk

Reporting an Absence

Parents must telephone the school attendance line (0151 638 8131, option 1) on the first day of absence before 8.45am and on each subsequent day of absence. Alternatively, you can email attendance@mosslands.wirral.sch.uk. Please do not use the admin@mosslands email or the contact school option on the My Child at School app as these do not go directly to attendance, and you may still get a truancy call. It is our duty to keep your child safe, so if you do not inform us, you will receive a truancy call. You will receive 6 further calls until you respond.  The number which will display as an incoming call is a Sheffield number, 0114 303 4042.

Medication in School

If you have any questions or concerns regarding medication in school, please contact the SEND Department. Students should not bring medication into school and any medication should be registered at reception. If your child is diagnosed as being asthmatic, following on from medical guidelines, please ensure they have an inhaler on then at all times and that we hold a spare within school. Many thanks.
