We are looking forward to welcoming students from years 4 and 5 to look round our school this evening. We can't wait to show them all the amazing things that are happening here. Don't miss our headteacher's talk at 6.15pm.

Y10 & 12 Examinations

Exams for Y12 run from Tuesday 17th to Friday 20th June.  Students will be on study leave from Tuesday to Friday and are expected to attend school for their exams. Not all subjects are running exams. However, the expectation is that students continue with any coursework/assignments they may have. Year 12 are expected in lessons as usual on Monday 16th June.

Y10 also have exams from Tuesday 17th but are expected in school as normal and, when not in an exam, will be in their normal lessons.

GL Assessments

As part of our annual programme, Year 7 and Year 8 students will be sitting end of year tests in English and maths during the week of Monday 23rd June (Y8) and Monday 30th June (Y7).

These online assessments take approximately one hour each and require no preparation or revision - your son/ward simply needs to try their best. Students will complete them as part of their form group. Catch-up sessions will be available for anyone who misses a test. We aim to share the outcomes of these with you before the end of term.

Year 11 Clearing Day

This will take place on Thursday 19th June, starting at 9.30am in the main hall.

This day is an important part of concluding your son's time in Year 11, and pupils are permitted to wear their own clothes on the day.

On the day, all pupils must return the following items:

  • Yondr pouches
  • School-issued laptops and chargers
  • Revision guides
  • Any other materials issued to them during their GCSE studies

In addition, we kindly ask that any outstanding debts (such as those from canteen purchases) are fully cleared.

Please be aware that the school reserves the right to withhold GCSE certificates if school property, such as laptops or textbooks, are not returned, or if debts remain unpaid.

We would also welcome donations of any old school uniform & PE kits that are no longer needed. These donations go a long way in supporting other families within our school community and promoting sustainability.

If you have any questions or require assistance, please do not hesitate to contact your son/ward’s house office.

Yondr Pouches

In the last few months, we have seen an increase in the number of pupils who do not have a Yondr pouch and are handing their phones in to staff each morning.  Yondr pouches were issued to all pupils at the start of the academic year, and they are a compulsory part of our school uniform requirements.  If your son/ward does not have a pouch, or it is damaged, you must purchase a new one.  These can be purchased from our school office at the cost of £25.  House office staff will be contacting parents of pupils who regularly arrive at school without their pouch over the next few weeks.

Eureka Trip

A small group of Y10 boys have been selected by their science teachers to attend a special opportunity at Eureka on Wednesday 18th June 2025, as part of an exciting event organised in partnership with ITV. This will include a live Q&A session with a team currently aboard the RSS David Attenborough research vessel in Antarctica, giving students the chance to hear directly from scientists working in one of the most remote parts of the world.

FIFA Esports Tournament

Friday saw the end of our attendance-based FIFA Esports tournament. We invited Owen Larney, Tranmere Rovers' first professional Esports player, into school to play the top-placed forms. Owen played third place 8F2's Inter Milan first, then second place 9G3's RB Leipzig, ending with first place winners 10R1. It was a fantastic event with a total of 35 goals! Thank you to Owen for coming to play!

Attendance Celebrations

Congratulations to 8G1 and 10R2. Last week, they both raised their form's weekly attendance by over 10%. This is fantastic news, and we are so proud of them.

Library

To honour Refugee Week, which takes place from Monday 16th June, our Book of the Week is Welcome to Nowhere by Elizabeth Laird. It tells the story of Omar, a 12-year-old Syrian boy who doesn't care about politics until his brother gets caught up with young political activists. Soon, bombs are falling and Omar and his family have no choice but to flee their home with only what they can carry. No matter how far they run, the shadow of war follows them until they are forced to leave their homeland altogether. But where do you go when you can't go home? A moving, thought-provoking book that is in the library now.

On Friday 27th June, our students will be raising money for Wallasey Village Library and Community Centre by completing a sponsored Readathon.  If you would like to donate to this wonderful cause please click this link: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/wallaseyvillagelibrarycommunity-centre-2

Art Department

You can follow us on Instagram @art_mosslands to see some fabulous examples of the work produced by our students.

Reporting an Absence

Parents must telephone the school attendance line (0151 638 8131, option 1) on the first day of absence before 8.45am and on each subsequent day of absence. Alternatively, you can email attendance@mosslands.wirral.sch.uk. Please do not use the admin@mosslands email or the contact school option on the My Child at School app as these do not go directly to attendance, and you may still get a truancy call. It is our duty to keep your child safe, so if you do not inform us, you will receive a truancy call. You will receive 6 further calls until you respond.  The number which will display as an incoming call is a Sheffield number, 0114 303 4042.

Please be advised that if a student is absent from school for three consecutive days, a member of staff will carry out a home visit to check that everything is okay even if a phone call has already been received from a parent or carer.

This is part of our commitment to safeguarding and ensuring the wellbeing of all our students. We appreciate your understanding and support in this matter.

Medication in School

If you have any questions or concerns regarding medication in school, please contact the SEND Department. Students should not bring medication into school and any medication should be registered at reception. If your child is diagnosed as being asthmatic, following on from medical guidelines, please ensure they have an inhaler on then at all times and that we hold a spare within school. Many thanks.
