Sixth Form

Y12 will be working from home on Tuesday 8th July to allow us to safely move the sixth form centre to its new location in the main building. The best way to contact us is still via our mobile number.  If you have any questions, please email us on sixthform@mosslands.wirral.sch.uk or text us on 07741895623 and we will reply to you as quickly as possible.

Trips

Y10 geography students are out on their compulsory fieldwork in North Wales on either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

On Thursday and Friday next week, Bronze DofE boys are on their expedition also in North Wales.

The next deposit of £120 for the Berlin 2026 trip is due on 15th July. The next payment for Berlin is due in September, but will be live on MCAS before the end of term to allow parents plenty of time to make the payment.

The Iceland trip should be paid in full now.

There are still places avaialble on the 2026 ski trip to Italy.

Careers Update

Year 10 have recently had a CV workshop with our careers team to start writing their CV ahead of their mock interviews in December. It is important that all  Y10 start this process early so that they can get feedback and make their CV the best it can be. They should use the CV tool on Unifrog and guidance is available in the Careers Google Classroom, code: wvlzdhq

A small group of Y10 students visited Liverpool John Moores University last Monday and had practical sessions in the engineering and health departments. They went on a bridge simulator and learnt how to take blood from a patient, amongst other things! They were a credit to the school.

Y9 have recently had an assembly to tell them about apprenticeships and, in the same week, experienced a World of Work Day led by Willmott Dixon who are the contractor on our new building project. We look forward to working with them once they are on site.

Next week Y8 will have a careers session using Unifrog to start working on their careers portfolio. We look forward to working with them.

Drama Club

This week will be the last Drama Club of the term until we return in September: Friday 3:20 - 4:15 in the drama studio.

If you have never been before, all year groups welcome!

Make it in May and Jump into June Attendance Reward Trips

We have had two amazing afternoons celebrating the attendance of our students.  Everyone involved has had so much fun. We are looking forward to the next one this afternoon.

Congratulations again to these boys for not missing a day of school since 1st May.

Library

Well done to all of our Readathon students who read all day on Friday and raised over £200. All the money raised by our students will go towards Wallasey Village Library and Community Centre. The students were brilliant, and as you can see from our book pile, they read a lot of books! Thank you to all of our staff and families that supported us. If you would like to donate to this wonderful cause please click this link: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/wallaseyvillagelibrarycommunity-centre-2

Art Department

On Tuesday 8th July, we will be running our annual Bob Ross Day!

A selected group of talented students will be creating artwork inspired by the one and only - Bob Ross. These artworks will be auctioned off to the highest bidder, with all proceeds supporting a charity picked by the students.

You can follow us on Instagram @art_mosslands to see some fabulous examples of the work produced by our students.

Reporting an Absence

Parents must telephone the school attendance line (0151 638 8131, option 1) on the first day of absence before 8.45am and on each subsequent day of absence. Alternatively, you can email attendance@mosslands.wirral.sch.uk. Please do not use the admin@mosslands email or the contact school option on the My Child at School app as these do not go directly to attendance, and you may still get a truancy call. It is our duty to keep your child safe, so if you do not inform us, you will receive a truancy call. You will receive 6 further calls until you respond.  The number which will display as an incoming call is a Sheffield number, 0114 303 4042.

Please be advised that if a student is absent from school for three consecutive days, a member of staff will carry out a home visit to check that everything is okay even if a phone call has already been received from a parent or carer.

This is part of our commitment to safeguarding and ensuring the wellbeing of all our students. We appreciate your understanding and support in this matter.

Medication in School

If you have any questions or concerns regarding medication in school, please contact the SEND Department. Students should not bring medication into school and any medication should be registered at reception. If your child is diagnosed as being asthmatic, following on from medical guidelines, please ensure they have an inhaler on then at all times and that we hold a spare within school. Many thanks.
