Easter Egg Challenge

50 pupils from Year 7 took part in a Easter Egg Challenge STEM activity

Easter egg challengeOn Monday 14th March 50 pupils from Year 7 took part in a Easter Egg Challenge STEM activity (Science Technology Engineering Maths). Through the activities undertaken pupils were able to improve their creative thinking and problem solving skills as well as enhancing ability in the core subjects of Science and Maths.

Pupils had to work as part of a team to solve a number of problems with limited resources. Pupils had to plan, design and build a vehicle with a range of additional features, which they would propel down a slope directly at an egg. If the egg wasn’t damaged in any way the mission was successful. Pupils learnt about forces, friction and design principles in the task, as well as sharing ideas and working as a team.

‘The activity has helped me understand more about forces in a practical way’. Year 7 pupil
