The Tour Escrimé, Mosslands whole school fencing competition came to an exciting finale today in the main hall with the 2011 runner up, and winner from 2010, Elliott Kenny (U6R1) got his name on the trophy for a second time in a gripping match against the current whole school Sabre champion Nathan Jones (L6G2). In a fast paced match both fencers appeared eager to push forward. Elliott went ahead on several occasions but was pegged back by Nathan with some great attacking moves. Towards the end Elliott made good use of his better reach and was able to pull into a convincing lead that Nathan was unable to come back from, hitting Nathan with a series of stop hits and distance traps. Elliott won 15 - 7

The competition took place over three weeks and was very well attended by both competitors and supporters. Over forty students entered the competition each one fighting through a round of five pools matches before being ranked on wins, losses and points difference. The standard of fencing has again increased this year and there are now a large number of very good fencers in the school and many more who show great potential. Four of the students in school have now competed at national level competitions and we hope to see those students and more going on to great success in the future.
