Students are taking part in this years 500 Words writing competition run by BBC Radio 2.

The creative writing competition, open to pupils up to the age of 13, is aimed at developing creativity and literacy skills.

Students have to write and submit their own creative story, up to a maximum of 500 words.

This is a national competition but we will also be offering prizes for the best Mosslands entrants from each class and year group.

Today students watched live webcast hosted by The One Show's Alex Jones. Alex quizzed top 500 Words judge and Author Frank Cottrell Boyce on his best story-writing tips.
