Our school term came to its traditional conclusion with our annual Senior Award’s Evening.
At the event, we recognised the achievement, commitment and service of our Key Stages 4 & 5 students of the last academic year.
The guest speaker was Mr Graeme Waterfield from Wirral MIND and prior to presenting the Awards, he spoke about the invaluable work of the charity.
The musical entertainment was provided by Sebastian Drysdale, Rory Gibson, Iain Nicholson and Jordan Edwards and the vote of thanks was given by our Head Prefect, Ben Parry-Yates.
We were delighted to welcome back so many of last year’s Upper 6th students who Mrs Lee described as a year group characterised by high achievement and strong, supportive friendships.
The highlight of the evening was the inaugural presentation of ‘The Chris Bygate Award for Community Spirit’ in memory of Chris, a former student. With the blessing of Chris’ parents, this was awarded to our E2E team who cycled from Lands’ End to John O’Groats in July to raise money for the MIND charity. After 13 days on the road, over 900 miles travelled, the team who comprised of Ryan Foo, Callum Grant, Joshua Keatley, Fraser Martindale, Peter McGinnity, Alex Segar and Matthew Thompson, exceeded their target of £7500. A cheque for the balance of the money was given to Mr Waterfield on the evening.
The main School Awards were as follows:
