Year 8 Boys Commended for their Poetry

Liverpool John Moores University Congratulates Year 8 Boys

Back in November of this year a group of year eight boys took part in a creative writing challenge ‘War Words’ with the Merseyside at War project in association with Liverpool John Moores University.  Inspired by the writing of local poet Wilfred Owen and the bestselling novel The Book Thief they attempted to write some poetry of their own with excellent results.

This week two year eight boys, Joshua Lemley and Dylan Taylor have been invited to attend a celebratory event at the Liverpool Philharmonic in September to receive awards.  They will get the opportunity to meet the guest speaker and bestselling children’s author of War Horse, Michael Morpurgo, in recognition for their outstanding poetry.

You can view the poems submitted on the Merseyside at War Website.
