Find Your Vocation

The University of Liverpool delivered its second ‘Find Your Vocation’ event for up to 60 young people from across Greater Merseyside including 4 Year 10 Mosslands pupils.

The students talking about their case studyFrom June 28th – 30th 2010, the Educational Opportunities team at University of Liverpool delivered its second ‘Find Your Vocation’ event for up to 60 young people from across Greater Merseyside including 4 Year 10 Mosslands pupils. The event aimed to raise awareness and aspirations in relation to Higher Education in Year 10 learners, with a specific focus on subject areas in Health Sciences. The project encouraged learners to highlight the links between their own school curriculum, study at university and their future career choices.

After an initial icebreaker day, where the students learnt about Higher Education in general, the learners focused on Health Sciences
The Health Sciences group spent two days working with members of staff from the University of Liverpool Health Sciences department, taking part in interactive taster sessions, using the University equipment and questioning current undergraduates about the different aspects of student life.
Young people enjoyed academic taster sessions including Orthoptics, Nursing, Physiotherapy and Radiography.

I found this experience very interesting. There was a variety of different activities that were fun and educational. I believe my classmates also enjoyed the expericnce and along with myself are perhaps considering a future in health sciences.Overall I found this trip to be interesting and well organised. Everyone was friendly making it a very pleasant 3 days.
