Bank Holiday - Friday 8th May
6th May 2020
Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing to confirm that school will be closed to all pupils on Friday 8th May, this is the May bank holiday and also the national commemoration of VE day, the end of the Second World War in Europe, 75 years ago.
Teachers will not be setting work for the day, instead we ask you to speak to your son about the importance of the remembrance celebration and the great sacrifice made by so many at that time. I would point you to the abundant materials and programmes that have been scheduled nationally for that day.
It is important that in this current battle against Covid 19, we remember and celebrate the resilience of our community in coming together and staying strong in other times of national struggle. It is important for our children to recognise that we will come through the current adversity and that better times will follow, just as they did after the end of the war.
Yours sincerely
Mr Adrian Whiteley
