Student Support Services

This article is intended to provide a snapshot, and no more, of the work my team will be undertaking this year. The Student Services Team brings together a range of expert and dedicated staff who provide additional support services to help all the boys flourish at the Mosslands School working closely with the wider school community - especially our fantastic and talented staff in the Year Offices. This year we will be focusing on a number of new programmes aimed at supporting and stretching our students so that they can achieve the highest academic standards.

The Gifted and Talented Programme under the stewardship of Mr B Taylor will provide bespoke and challenging activities for our GT students.

The team of Senior Learning Mentors - Mrs S Denheyer, Miss C Owens and Mr J Christiansen - will provide a range of support plans for pupils: these will include Academic Mentoring Schemes with GCSE students and Social, Emotional and Personal Development programmes.

The Learning Support Manager, Mrs D Connor, will continue to support pupils through a range of programmes and new this year is a paired Literacy Support Programme based on the national scheme of One-to-One Tuition which was highly successful last year for all the students involved.

Mrs A Carruthers, the SEN Manager, working closely with her team of dedicated Learning Support Assistants (LSA) will continue to support all SEN pupils and strengthen our relationships with parents through a programme of Parent Partnerships. This year the team of LSAs are providing lunch time clubs for SEN pupils to provide them with bases to work and have a friendly face on hand for support during lunch. This just adds to all the other positive pupil activities running at lunch times creating a real "buzz" around the school

. Miss H Audley, the lead teacher for SEN, is developing a programme of in-service training for staff to further develop and enhance our teaching and support strategies for pupils with SEN.

Mrs L Cubbin, the Student Services Administrator, will provide first class support for all members of the team and pupils who access the wide range of support programmes.

Throughout the year regular articles and bulletins will appear on the school's website showcasing the manifold successes of our students.

Should you wish to know more about the work of the Student Services Team please do contact Mr Khalique who will be more than happy to help you.
