What you learn about:

This hands on and very practical based qualification is a new course designed to offer learners the opportunity to learn about the world of construction. The qualification is based around ‘plan, do review’ concept of learning and will allow learners the opportunity to learn and develop a wide range of construction based skills including joinery, decorating and plumbing.

The course is structured into 2 units. These are:

Unit 1 - Introduction to the Built Environment

Unit 3 - Constructing the Built Environment

The units provide learners with ‘real world’ experiences in this field to prepare them for further learning at A Level, an apprenticeship or a work based college course.

Assessment:

Unit 1 - On-screen exam: 1 hour 30 minutes - 40% of qualification

Unit 3 - Controlled assessment: 30 hours - 60% of qualification

Other Information:

You will be expected to learn a range of new skills throughout the duration of the course. This is a real life course that is taught in a real life situation, to enrich and reinforce the skills required to embark upon a career within Construction.
