Design and technology is a practical and valuable subject. It enables children and young people to actively contribute to the creativity, culture, wealth and well-being of themselves, their community and their nation. It teaches how to take risks and so become more resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable. Students develop a critical understanding of the impact of design and technology on daily life and the wider world. (Mr Roberts - Subject Lead)
Design and Technology Overview
In years 7-9 the Design and Technology curriculum at Mosslands School seeks to support flourishing pupils that have a real thirst for creativity. A student within the Design and Technology department will have the opportunity to make their own design decisions, has an enquiring mind that is motivated to seek solutions to problems independently, and reflects on their progress through a systematic process of self and peer evaluation. Each class will have three lessons a fortnight. This will prepare them for their chosen specialism at K.S.4 if they wish to opt for this curriculum area.
The Design and Technology department has six rooms which are: two computer rooms, three workshops and one construction room.
