Qualifications

The Engineering College

The Engineering College offers students a real opportunity to get into engineering. Our team have worked with schools for more than a decade and have developed programmes that support students who want to achieve a qualification in engineering alongside their studies at school. The Engineering College offer industry-like workshops, qualified engineering tutors with a wealth of experience and a link into industry with employers across the North West.

The Engineering College is for students with a genuine interest in engineering, an interest in achieving an engineering qualification or an aspiration to work in an engineering role as a career.

What can students study?

We deliver two programmes to school students:

The Level 2 Technical Certificate in Engineering is a one-year programme that teaches the key principles of engineering technology and is the equivalent to A* - C/ 4 - 9 GCSE grades. This is the perfect course to get hands-on experience in engineering alongside studies at school and students will study Principles of Engineering, Developing Engineering Workshop Practice, Working in Engineering Business and additional units in either Fabrication & Welding or Mechanical Maintenance units.

Level 3 BTEC National Diploma in Engineering

The Level 3 BTEC National Diploma in Engineering is a two year programme and is worth the equivalent of two A Levels (to be complemented by a third Level 3 subject e.g. ICT, Physics or Maths at Mosslands).
