Curriculum Map

This curriculum map provides an overview of the drama journey students will experience throughout the academic year. It outlines the sequence of theatrical styles, performance techniques, and dramatic texts alongside key assessment points designed to monitor and support student progress. The curriculum is carefully sequenced to build knowledge progressively, with each unit providing the foundation for future learning, ensuring all students develop performance confidence, creative expression, and critical analysis appropriate to their age and stage.

Spring 1 Component 3 – External exam preparation
PSA brief - 

Pupils respond to pre-release material. 
Workshops:
Teacher-led workshops, which form the basis for Milestone 1, written review.

Group exploration:
Pupils begin devising their own performance piece, which meets the requirements of the exam brief, and stimulus.

Spring 2 Component 3 continued – external assessment

Milestone 2 written review

Rehearsal period.

Practical examination – Milestone 3.
Performance filmed and completed in exam conditions.

Summer 1 Component 3 Milestone 4 written review – the evaluation.
Summer 2 Completed course
