Key Stage 3

- Verbal feedback is recognised as having the greatest impact on student progress and will be at the core of our everyday teaching.
- Within lessons mini whiteboards, targeted and open questioning are routinely used to monitor progress in lessons and allow for early intervention to clarify misconceptions where needed.
- Within lessons as much use as possible will be made of computer based activities which enable students to progress at their differing levels and provide answer checking and instant feedback. There are many tools which also provide additional support, hints and guidance. These tools provide tailored, accurate and helpful feedback for a student to act on.
- Within lessons there is an expectation that students will self/peer assess their work as solutions are shared.
- Homework will be set each week mainly using Carousel. This ensures that the students are recalling their knowledge on a frequent basis and reinforces core unit concepts.
- The students will be assessed at the end of each unit. A revision lesson will precede each assessment where revision techniques will be taught. The students will be given feedback and next steps activities for each assessment.
- The results from these assessments will form a key input for the data collections
